A mysterious island – complete with rare wildlife and a secret underground military base to boot… It might sound like something out of a 1950's adventure novel, but it exists right on Queenscliff's doorstep, and it's once again open to the general public.
Not only does the fort itself represent an important part of Victoria's colonial history and a wonderful example of cutting edge military technology as it stood in the late 1800's, it also provides important breeding habitat for the endangered White-faced Storm Petrel and other bird species.
This fun filled adventure includes a boat cruise that takes in the best bits of southern Port Phillip Bay, including Popes Eye (part of the Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park) and the seals of Chinaman's Hat. Docking at South Channel Fort, there is then a guided 1hr walking tour through this once top secret military base.
The tour runs for 3 hours and participants should be prepared for a variety of weather conditions (e.g. wear a hat or bring a jacket). A decent pair of walking shoes is required as participants will need to navigate fairly rough terrain, and we highly recommend bringing a torch!
Currently we have a number of dates coming up, but the first is scheduled for...
