The Seals
Replacing a dilapidated 1942 defence post the Chinaman’s Hat seal platform is a bedroom to some 40 male Australian Fur Seals which use the platform as haul out (resting) site. This group of bachelor seals are all part of the larger breeding colonies of Phillip Island and Lady Julia Island where they would need to do battle with the dominant bulls if they were to set a flipper on the beach. These seals are quite comfortable sharing the water with Sea All’s snorkellers as we marvel at their graceful acrobatics and are teased by cheeky seal pups. For an unforgettable adventure a swim with the seals is not to be missed. | ![]() |
